UCLan Greenbank Atrium
We were approached by the University to look at the existing lighting within the Atrium area which was very gloomy and uninspiring and had received complaints from both students and staff using the building.
The new scheme had to disturb the existing building fabric as little as possible and make best use of the existing luminaire positions. There was in addition to improving the circulation area lighting a requirement for introducing display lighting, again with minimal disturbance to the existing building fabric.
The lighting design comprised high output ultra-wide distribution LED down lighters, narrow beam emphasis wall washing LED luminaires and track mounted display lighting LED luminaires.
Luminaires were selected to enable the existing ceiling cut outs to be utilised and investigations in to the existing wiring arrangements enabled the existing wiring to be reused.
The completed scheme transformed a dull, bland poorly illuminated space in to an inviting vibrant area and was very well received by both students and staff.
